Randy Gilberts

Randy Gilberts, age 67, of Lake Lillian, MN passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at his home. A private burial will take place at Community Cemetery in Lake Lillian. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at his family farm on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. Memorials are preferred to Knute Nelson Hospice or American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by K-M Funeral Home of Lake Lillian.
Randy Ray Gilberts was born on March 13, 1956 to Alvin and Evelyn (Koska) Gilberts in Litchfield, MN. He was one of six children. Randy was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” Schwer on June 18, 1977 in Bird Island. Their marriage was blessed with four sons: Josh, Justin, Michael, and Nathan. They made their home on a farm near Lake Lillian. He was a lifelong farmer working until May 29, 2023. Randy milked cows, managed four semi trucks during the sugar beet season, hauled peas and sweet corn, worked for Remington Seed Company, and most recently helped Darin Fischer on his farm. He trucked for the better part of his life and worked side by side with Henry Wittman for over 50 years. Randy was a jack of all trades and was a mentor and teacher for his boys throughout his life. He enjoyed listening to polka music especially Mollie B. He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club and part of the Creamery Board as well as the Community Cemetery Board, which he was a dedicated sexton and caretaker of. He loved his grandchildren and cherished all the time he spent with them. Randy will be remembered for his big heart and willingness to help everyone.
Randy is survived by his wife, Peggy; his four sons: Joshua (Chantel) of Lake Lillian, Justin (Jodi) of Renville, Michael (Heather) of Blomkest, and Nathan (Breanna) of Bird Island; his grandchildren: Kenzie, Dalton, Dylan, Isabel, Isaac, Paisley, Wyatt, and Ronan; his siblings: Darlene Fix Bob, Gary, Lyle and LuAnn Gilberts; and many nieces and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Evelyn; granddaughter, Lila; grandparents, Sam & Mable Gilberts and Ed & Rose Koska; brother-in-law, Matt Fix and sisters-in-law: Toni Strecker and Lois Gilberts.
