Ramona was born on July 16, 1944 to Louie and Ethel (Olson) Willms of Comfrey. She grew up on a farm outside of Comfrey and graduated from Comfrey Public School. On February 28, 1965 she was united in marriage to Bruce Toll and they bought their one and only home in Comfrey. They were blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church (later New Hope Lutheran Church) where she spent many years as a Sunday School teacher and a youth group leader coordinating many Easter Breakfasts, meetings and youth outings. Ramona worked at People’s State Bank for 7 years and once her children were grown, many may have seen her smiling face at Jackpot Junction in the Bingo hall where she worked for 18 years. Ramona also was the local “Avon Lady” for many years, welcoming people into her home at any time. She was a “second mom” to many of the kids in town, always offering a place to stay and making sure they all had a full stomach before they went home. Bruce and Ramona enjoyed spending part of their winters in El Centro, CA. She dedicated her life to her family and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. They meant the world to her. Ramona died January 1, 2021 at Abbott Northwestern hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband Bruce of Comfrey, children – Tammy (Jim) Kelly of Comfrey, Wendy (Bob) Schoewe of Lakeville, Troy (Andrea) Toll of Comfrey and 8 grandchildren Karliana (Fiancé Dustin Clement) and Logan Kelly, Dawson and Blake Gode, Lexi, Jordan, Ashton and Elliana Toll; siblings – Betty Windschill of St. James, MaryAnn Paape of Brooklyn Center, Sandra (Alvin) Anderson of Alexandria. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Rodney Willms, David Willms, Donald (Donna) Willms; brother-in-law’s Bob Windschill and Bill Paape.
