Paul “Cabbage” Thiel age 60 of Redwood Falls passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his home of natural causes.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Living Word Church in Redwood Falls.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Interment is in Peace Memorial Gardens (formerly Crestlawn).  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Paul Thiel was born January 6, 1961 in Redwood Falls to Carl & Darlene (Rykhus) Thiel.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.  Paul graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1979.  He began working for Morgan’s Red Owl and worked there for fifteen years before it closed.  He then began driving for Curry Sanitation and later worked for Meadowland and Bayer.  Paul had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor.  He had a great memory, and always remembered everyone’s birthday and how old they were.  Paul played in several pool leagues over the years.  He enjoyed watching sports & playing cards, especially “Sheephead” and “Hand in Foot”.  Paul loved to hunt and go ice fishing with his friends.  He also loved spending time with his family.

Paul is survived by his sisters: Becky (Jon) Schmidt of Lake Lillian and Mavis (Mike) Salfer of Redwood Falls; nieces and nephews: Melanie Sjoberg (fiancé Andrew Cormier), Nathaniel Schmidt (fiancé Marissa Campbell), Ashley (Matthew) Lynch, Jennifer Wurtz, Joe Salfer, & Adam Salfer (significant other Lindsey Marx); great nieces and nephews: Rylee, Keelen, Vincent, Ophelia, Willa & Whitney; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
