She worked several jobs that she would speak fondly of including Herberger’s in New Ulm and SMC in Springfield. During this time, she enjoyed being with friends. It was also during this time she began dating Jim. On November 20, 1971, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Kosel at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn.

Nancy enjoyed 51 years of marriage to her husband and together they raised two children on their farm near Sanborn. She enjoyed driving tractor when she was able and was still involved and interested in the farm even as her MS progressed and she was physically unable to participate. She was a lifelong member of the Sanborn area and Zion Lutheran Church where she was involved in many things including the Ladies Aide, substitute organist, and the choir. Nancy enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, spending time with friends and family, debating politics, and helping in any way she could in the church and community. She was also a long-time member of the Sanborn American Legion Auxiliary where she served in a number of rolls over the years, including President and organizing the local Girls State participants. Nancy will be remembered for her cooking, caring and giving personality, and deep conversations.
