Melania Sophia Meyer, age 87, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on August 9, 2021, at her home.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 5 to 8 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and will continue on Friday from 10 until 11 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye.

Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00 am.

The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Melania Sophia Meyer was born on October 5, 1933 on the farm in Albin Township, MN to Edward & Mathilda (Seidl) Sellner. She was the 7th of 15 children. She attended school District 33 in Albin Township and District 44 in Leavenworth Township. She attended St. Mary’s School until the 8th grade. Melania married Delmar “Mupp” Meyer on November 6, 1953. She worked at Jake’s Eat Shop, A.J. Pietrus & Sons and Sleepy Eye Care Center. She volunteered at Divine Providence helping with bingo, funeral lunches, helping at St. Mary’s peeling apples and potatoes and Next-tu-Nu. She was a member of the Christian Mother’s Society, CCW and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She lived in Sleepy Eye and raised two children, Roxanne and Dean. She liked baking, cooking, canning, babysitting her grandchildren, walking, shoveling snow and raking leaves.
She is survived by her children, Roxanne (Leonard) Fassbender, Dean (Darla) Meyer, grandchildren, Jennifer Marti, Brooks (Jodi) Marti, Adam (Lisa) Marti, Jeffrey Meyer and Joe Meyer, great grandchildren, Aletta, Weston and Everly More, Kaden Marti, Justin, Cheyenne and Dustin Marti, Jason Meyer, sisters, Phyllis Westman, Joyce (Gary) Berg, Beatrice (Tom) Koop, brother, Doyle (Patty) Sellner, brother-in-law, Jim Stimpert and sisters-in-law, Helen Sellner and Sandy Sellner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar, parents, great grandaughter, Harleigh Marti, sisters and brothers-in-law, Millie (Lyle) Baker, Leona (Vernon) Platz, Rita (Christ) Seifert, Patricia (Ray) Seifert, Mary Ann (Marlin) Rodewald, Rosella Stimpert, Delbert Westman, brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddie (Bernice) Sellner, Ray Sellner, Paul Sellner and Larry “Louie” Sellner, mother and father-in-law, Albert and Selma Meyer and brother and sisters-in-law, Robert (Irene) Meyer and Donald (Cathy) Meyer.
