Matthew Charles Chan, age 57, of Renville, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at his home in Renville.  Visitation for Matt will be Monday, July 18, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Renville.  The Rev. Trevor Bailey will officiate.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Renville County Hospice.  Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Matthew Charles Chan was born on April 8, 1965, at the Redwood Falls Hospital to Clarence and Margaret (Haen) Chan.  He grew up on the family farm south of Renville and graduated from Renville High School in 1983.  Matt continued his education at Canby Tech. and Ridgewater Community College where he studied agriculture.  He farmed with his father and his brother Mark for many years. Matt was united in marriage to Shari Amdahl on March 8, 1999, in Watertown, South Dakota. They made their home southwest of Renville and Matt worked at Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Co-op for over 25 years.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking with his sons at Ramsey Park in Redwood Falls.  Family was everything to Matt, he loved playing with his grandchildren.  He also loved movies and music, watching sports and playing cards.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his genuine ability to make people feel comfortable.

Matt is survived by his wife Shari, his two sons:  Braden and Payton Chan; his stepchildren: Amber Simons, Jared Jordahl (and friend Anjali Flaherty), and Brittany Jordahl; his brothers Mark Chan of Renville, and Michael Chan of Mesa, Arizona; his grandchildren: Mari Jordahl, Eden Simons, Blayne Jordahl, Jovie Simons, Dax Simons, Oliver Jordahl, and Gideon Jordahl; his nephew Phillip Chan and his niece Kylie Chan; many aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Margaret Chan.
