Marvelyn Janet Bratsch was born on November 1, 1931, in Renville County to Gustave and Frieda (Standfuss) Krueger.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmet Township. Marvelyn grew up on the family farm southwest of Danube and attended country school District 127. She graduated from Danube High School in 1949, and worked numerous jobs around Olivia.
