Marvel Ernie Harder age 78, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on December 30, 2021, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Funeral Service will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel, on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

The clergy will be Rev. Dr. Gerhardt Miller.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Military Honors will be provided by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Marvel Ernie “Butch” Harder was born on October 6, 1943 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Ernie & Arline (Speckman) Harder. He grew up and attended school in Sleepy Eye. Butch enlisted in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Army he moved back to Sleepy Eye. He helped farm his family’s farm and lived south of Sleepy Eye until his marriage to Brenda Tennis in 1994 when they moved to town. Butch retired from farming after his mother’s death in 2004. Butch worked a variety of welding jobs for Haala Industries and Wayne’s Inc. in Morgan. Butch loved taking trips with his family every summer. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Harder of Sleepy Eye, 3 step-children, Teri Woody of Fairmont, MN, Les (Katy) Woody of Alexandria, Tracey Zeig of Sleepy Eye, 11 step-grandchildren, 4 great step-grandchildren, sister, Shirley (Gary) Wendinger, brothers-in-law, Dean Fenske and Eugene (Karen) Tennis, sisters-in-law, Mary Austrum, Mary Tennis, Deb Jensen, Susan Miller, Shawn Renwick and Bernie (Deb) Tennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie & Arline Harder, sister, Mavis Fenske, sister-in-law, Alice Tennis, brothers-in-law, Gerald Tennis and Mark Jensen, mother-in-law, Grace Tennis and father & step-mother, Bernard & Lois Tennis.
