Marlys Tersteeg, age 90, of Bird Island died Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center in Buffalo Lake.  A private family funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island with Rev. Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Marlys Ann Tersteeg was born March 24, 1930 in Willmar, Minnesota to Gerard and Laura (Oslund) Poseley.  She grew up in Bird Island and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.  Marlys married Jim Tersteeg on October 2, 1956 in Bird Island.  She was a dedicated housewife raising seven children and enjoyed every minute of it.  Marlys enjoyed sewing including her children’s clothes, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.  Marlys was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island where she was also active in the CCW in earlier years.

Marlys is survived by her seven children: Ellen (and Jim) Smith of Bird Island, Nancy (and Kevin)  Brennan of St. Cloud, Jill (and Greg) Granlund of Eau Claire, WI, Lynette (and Brian) Atkinson of Cottage Grove, Paula (and Randy) Keim of Madison Lake, Jean Tersteeg (and Terrence Cassidy) of Woodbury and Michael (and Leah) Tersteeg of Bird Island; her eight grandchildren: Marc (and Andrea) Granlund, Claire Granlund, John Brennan, Megan Brennan, Tom (and Katie) Hinkle, Stephen Hinkle, Braeden Tersteeg and Delaney Tersteeg; her three great-grandchildren: Owen Hinkle, Ava Hinkle, and Elizabeth Granlund; and her sister-in-law Betty Poseley of Farmington. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim and her two siblings: Tom Poseley and Janice Berger.
