Marilyn Schmid, age 81, of New Ulm passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes – North Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the North Chapel.

The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Julie Marie (Travis) Titera of Appleton, WI; son, Daniel (Pam) Schmid of Redwood Falls; four grandchildren, Heather (Jordan) Cady, Nicole Schmid, Noah Titera, Madeline Titera; three great grandchildren, Aiden, Kora, Sophie Cady; one sister, Mildred “Millie” (Roger) Mueller; special friend, Erwin Steinke; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlon Schmid, and her parents.

Marilyn Ann Jutz was born September 9, 1942 to Theodore and Margaret (Karpen) Jutz in New Ulm. She graduated from Cathedral High School. On September 28, 1963, Marilyn was united in marriage to Arlon Schmid at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Their union was blessed with two children. In addition to raising her children, Marilyn worked at Lindy’s Collection Agency in New Ulm. In her free time, Marilyn was an avid quilter and belonged to the Prairie Piecemaker’s. She also enjoyed going on quilting retreats, participating in the Cathedral church choir, volunteering at the church picnic and hospital, going on walks with her friends, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Above all else, Marilyn’s faith and family were central to her life. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
