LuEtta M. Engen age 89, of Lamberton, Minnesota died on January 4, 2022, at Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton Chapel and will continue on Friday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Highwater Lutheran Church, Lamberton.

Service will be held at the Highwater Lutheran Church, Lamberton, on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm.

The clergy will be Pastor Harvey Pedersen. Interment will be at the Highwater Lutheran Cemetery in Lamberton.

LuEtta M. Engen was born May 27, 1932 to Minnerd and Leona (Quiring) Mattison. She lived on the family farm all her life and attended country school #37 and graduated from Lamberton High School. She then graduated from Normal Teachers training and went on to become a teacher at the Red, White and Blue Schoolhouse. She was baptized and confirmed at Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton. On December 18, 1954 she married James Engen and lived on their family farm until moving into Lamberton in 2000. After her children were grown, she was employed at Valley View Manor as Activity Director and also worked summers as a tour guide at the Jeffers Petroglyphs. For many years, she was active in Highwater Garden Club, Luther League Advisor, Ladies Aide, Red Hat Society Kitchen Band, Sunday School Teacher and Highwater Lads & Lasses 4H Project Leader. LuEtta was known for her decorating skills and spent much time in preparation for the holidays. She loved entertaining and cooking for friends and family, along with countless hours sewing, tatting, crocheting and knitting. She loved giving gifts of homemade crafts during Christmas. LuEtta had a beautiful singing voice and often served as a soloist for church functions. She and James served as custodians to the Highwater Church for many years. They also spent time together with friends, family and traveling.

LuEtta is lovingly remembered by her husband, James Engen of Lamberton; daughter, Margie (Marv) Fuerstenberg of Luverne; son, Brian (Connie) Engen of Lamberton; grandchildren, Nick (Tina) Stehlik, Nathan (Cortney) Stehlik, Cory (Michelle) Engen, Casey Engen (special friend Sarah Striegel), Carter Engen; brothers, Dennis Mattison of Lamberton, Arlin (Peggy) Mattison of Lakefield; sister, Janet (Jerry) Hochstein of Windom, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Myron Mattison; parents, Minnerd and Leona Mattison; in-laws, Art and Mabel Engen; sisters-in-law, Margie Mattison and Lois Mattison, and brother-in-law, David Nerhus.
