Lloyd Knakmuhs
Lloyd Knakmuhs, age 90 of Walnut Grove, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Walnut Grove and will be livestreamed on the Lutheran’s On The Farm Southwest Minnesota YouTube page. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in the St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. Lloyd Knakmuhs was born on June 2nd, 1934 to Paul and Effie (Jackson) Knakmuhs on the family farm in Springdale Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Lloyd graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1952.  On November 12, 1955, Lloyd married Shirley (Pederson) at Highwater Lutheran Church. He was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1962. His grandchildren & great-grandchildren were very special to him. He also had a love for dogs. Lloyd would travel with Shirley and many friends to various locations including Hawaii and Vegas. He was a member of the Revere Legion, and later, the Walnut Grove Legion, and a member of the St. Olaf Church. He served on various boards throughout his life; St. John’s, Revere Elevator and was treasurer for the Revere Legion & Church.  He enjoyed socializing, dancing, bowling, hunting, golfing, playing cards and taking drives in the country. His life work and passion was farming.
Lloyd is survived by his children Brad (Wendy) of Westbrook and Deb (Bob) Jenniges of Revere; grandchildren Jessica (Jed Hacker) Knakmuhs, Abby (John) Jennings, Morganne (Gavin) Mattison, Brandon (Asahi Nagata) Jenniges and Dylan (Krissy) Jenniges; step-grandchild: Bobbie Jo Jenniges; great-grandchildren: Konsondra Duerkson, Konner Hacker, Brady Small, Raelynn, Macy, & Luca Mattison, Ichiko Jenniges and 2 more on the way; step-great-grandchildren: Avery Anderson & Cash Willer. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, son Ronald Knakmuhs, siblings; John, Edward, Richard, Howard, Jim, Floyd and Virene Shea.
