Mass of Christian Burial for LeRoy Irlbeck, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Wabasso, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the church.   Interment will follow the service at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery.

LeRoy Leo Irlbeck was born on September 7, 1936, in Morgan, MN, to Charles and Grace (Lohaus) Irlbeck.  On August 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Jane Baune at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.  To this union were born children Daniel, Tammy, Amy, and David.  LeRoy worked as a custodian for St. Anne’s Catholic Church and School for 14 years.  He worked for the Redwood County Highway Department for more than 20 years.  

LeRoy helped make the sauerkraut and dumplings for the feeds at the Wanda American Legion for many years.  He also volunteered for the Wabasso Meals on Wheels, for which he was awarded “Outstanding Citizen.”  LeRoy loved to garden, bake, and can, and he loved sharing these goods with others.  Some of his favorites to share were his caramel rolls and Schmierkuchen, cookies, and jam.  LeRoy enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and pranking people.  He was most fond of time spent with family, especially around a bonfire.

LeRoy died on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.  He is survived by his wife, Jane, of Springfield; children Daniel Irlbeck of Lamberton, Tammy (and Harley) Duscher of Willmar, Amy Skalbeck (and Tom Norstegard) of Morgan, and David (and Jill) Irlbeck of Lamberton; grandchildren Meghan (and Mohammed) Irlbeck, Carrie (and Gregg) Smoley, Shannon (and Josh) Koenen, Tanya Duscher, Brandon (and Melissa) Juenemann, Andrew Irlbeck, Chris (and Amy) Duscher, Jillian (and Nathan) Grabinski, Jacob Skalbeck, Anthony Skalbeck, Benjamin Skalbeck, Mackenzie Irlbeck, Hailey Irlbeck, and Addison Irlbeck; great-grandchildren Katie, Mara, Tracer, Kolton, Quinton, Madison, Landon, and twin girls due in April.  LeRoy is also survived by his siblings Eugene Irlbeck, Jerry (and Susie) Irlbeck, Margie (and Jerome “Hearts”) Altermatt, and Mary (and George) Walter; in-laws Colette Irlbeck, Beatrice Riley, Don (and Marge) Baune, Blanche Rohlik, Shirley Junt, Dale Baune, Lorelle Reiderer, and Pat (and Ruth) Baune; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Grace Irlbeck, in-laws Gregor and Elnora “Ella” Baune, siblings Dorothy Irlbeck, Donny Irlbeck, and Richard Irlbeck, and granddaughter Tarah Irlbeck.
