Leonard H. Malecek

Leonard H. Malecek, age 85, of Redwood Falls, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at his home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bechyn. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Leonard Henry Malecek, the son of Henry and Celia (Trochlil) Malecek, was born on January 24, 1938, in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Leonard attended country school district 126 and graduated from Morton High School in 1957.  He married Karen Kienlen on May 18, 1961, at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George, Minnesota. They had 5 children  and later divorced. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls.

Leonard enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially traveling with Marjean. Leonard and Marjean visited the town of Bechyne, Czech Republic. He enjoyed good food and loved to listen to Polka Music. His favorite two songs to listen to were the Faded Rose Waltz and the Monkey Polka. Leonard truly loved being a self-employed trucker for over 65 years.

He is survived by his special friend of 34 years, Marjean Naab of Redwood Falls; his son, Randy (Karen) Malecek of Redwood Falls,  daughter, Kim (Tim) Larsen of Morgan, son, Greg (Kim) Malecek of Morgan, daughter, Dana Wilson and special friend (Doug Doty) of Montevideo, son, Jason (Dawn) Malecek of Morgan; stepchildren; Scott (Bethany) Naab of Hanley Falls, Michelle (Steve) Paskewitz of Echo and Rod (Kelly) Naab of Miltona; 13 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 7 Step Grandchildren; 9 Step Great Grandchildren and sister, Ruth (Ron) Dyrssen of Olivia.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Malecek Jr.; sister, Cecelia “Babe” Houdek; and stepchild, Brian Naab.
