Leeun A. Werner

Leeun A. Werner, 86 year old resident of Little Falls, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., at Christ Evangelical Church in Baxter, MN, with Pastor Bill Werth officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 P.M., at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN, and on Friday, October 13, from 9:00-10:00 A.M., at the Christ Evangelical Church in Baxter. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Memorial gifts will be designated to Kingdom Workers, AKA Builders for Christ, which was near and dear to his heart. Caring for Leeun and his family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Little Falls.

Leeun Arthur Werner was welcomed into this world on June 14, 1937 in New Avon Township, Redwood County Minnesota to the late Arthur and Leona (Gilb) Werner. He was baptized on June 27, 1937 and confirmed on June 6, 1954 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso, MN. Leeun graduated high school in Wabasso and then graduated from Mankato Business College with a degree in bookkeeping. He married his high school sweetheart, Julene on June 3, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wabasso. The couple lived in Mankato for 2 years and then moved to Redwood Falls, MN, where they lived until 1975. The family moved to Little Falls where Leeun was a technician for the Minnesota Army National Guard, where he worked for 38 years. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN. Leeun was a church elder, on the church board and on the building committee. After retirement, Leeun and Julene joined Builders for Christ, where they went all over the United States, traveling to all 50 states, working on building mission churches. They did 29 missions over many years. Leeun loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He loved nature and enjoyed feeding his birds, squirrels and chipmunks. In his spare time, he enjoyed weekly doughnut-making at the Senior Center for many years. Leeun will be greatly missed by all.

Leeun is survived by his sister, Fernetta (Wally) Brown of Dent, MN; son, Dana (Mary Lou) Werner of Rosemount, MN; daughter, Jean (Ken) Zak of Prior Lake, MN; son, Dean Werner of Virginia Beach, VA; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Leeun was preceded in death by his wife, Julene; parents, Arthur and Leona Werner; brothers, Dale and Gilbert; sister, Ardyce and great-grandson, Jared Richard.
