Laurie Hogberg

Laurie Hogberg, age 71, died following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 8, 2024 with family by her side. A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with Pastor Matt Hausken as officiant.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 16th from 5-7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and continue for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, Laurie’s wish was that donations be made to the Olivia Public Library, American Cancer Society or to the BOLD athletic program.  Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Laurie Lee Hogberg was born in Bagley, Minnesota, on December 17, 1952 to Jack and Lois (Hurd) Bromaghin. Laurie began giving piano lessons when she was 16, and continued giving lessons until her retirement. Laurie married her high school sweetheart, Byron, on July 14th, 1973. They made their family home in Olivia, raising their children. She was involved in a Bowling league, the Olivia Junior Miss Program, playing piano for the church choir and Sunday school program. She loved spending time at Eagle Lake where they now reside, reading, enjoying bonfires and evening pontoon rides, tending to her flowers, taking trips to Mexico, and following her seven grandchildren in their sports and activities.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Byron of Willmar; her three children: Heidi (Dan) Gross of Olivia, MN, Anthony (Tina) Hogberg of Lino Lakes, MN and Hilary (Zach) Handahl of Centerville, MN; her seven grandchildren: Jack, Sadie, Denver, Axel, Tristan, Hudson, and Walker; her sister DeeAnn, her brother Peter (Mary) Bromaghin: her two sisters-in-law: Carole Wilson and Karen (Peter) Weber, brother-in-law Dick Klein and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Susan Klein and brothers-in-law Jim Wilson and Bob Hoover.
