Visitation is Monday, September 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and continues Tuesday at the church from 10:30 until the service starts.

Larry Allen Mueller was born June 19, 1944 in Danube to Alvin and Marvel (Hanson) Mueller. He graduated from Danube High School in 1962. Following graduation, he furthered his education at Westmar College and the University of Minnesota. Larry married Lois Herdina on August 26, 1972 at Zion Methodist Church in Danube and they were blessed with six daughters. Larry and Lois lived and farmed in rural Danube and raised their family on the farm that he grew up on. They milked dairy cattle and later on raised beef cattle and hosted many chicken weekends, filling everyone’s freezers for the year ahead. As Larry would say, “first I was a farmer and a part-time mailman, and then I was a mailman and a part-time farmer.” Larry was a spiritual man who had a strong faith. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Larry was active in his community as a member of the Danube Lions Club. Minneapolis Moline Tractors were his favorite; he collected both full-size tractors and also MM models. He always had a project he was working on, whether a tractor restoration or a woodworking project. Watching Minnesota sports, especially the Twins and the Gophers was a favorite pastime — especially when they were winning. Larry and Lois had a huge garden every year and always shared the bounty (especially tomatoes, even by mail). He canned thousands of jars of pickles over the years. He was often walking around humming a song and often said, “Hey, that reminds me of a song!” He was a very proud grandfather and father. He often said his one claim to fame was raising the ‘Six Mueller Girls’ and that the time with his daughters all at home were the best years of his life. He cheered on his daughters at all their events and spent the last few decades often road-tripping to attend as many events of his grandchildren as he could. He cherished the time that he was able to spend with his family making memories. Larry will be remembered for his humble presence, great sense of humor, and hard work ethic.

Larry is survived by his six daughters: Susan (and Rob) Anderson of Rexford, NY, Pam (and Jason) Kautz of Swisher, IA, Laura Mueller-Anderson (and Ben Anderson) of Marshall, MN, Maribeth (and Tony) Foerster of Dunedin, FL, Abby (and Tony) Goldenstein of Grand Forks, ND, and Karen (and Ross) Doerr of Stewart, MN; his 13 grandchildren: Grace, Emma, and Joshua Anderson, Eliza, Henry, Greta and Bennett Kautz, Charles Mueller-Thompson, Norah and Emily Goldenstein, Naomi, Jacob, and Charlotte Doerr; and his sisters: Sandy (and Gene) Frank of Olivia, MN, Shirley Holbrook of St. Simons Island, GA, and Cherie (and Pete) Sheehan of Australia. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Herdina) Mueller; his parents, Alvin and Marvel Mueller; and one grandson, Micah Kautz.

Blessed Be His Memory
