Kenneth Ardell Samuelson, age 89, of Sacred Heart, died Monday, December 2, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart.  The Rev. Dale Svendsen will officiate.  Burial will be in Opdal Lutheran Church Cemetery south of Sacred Heart. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and will continue on Friday one hour prior to the services all at the church in Sacred Heart.  Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Kenneth Ardell Samuelson was born on October 19, 1930, in Sacred Heart Township, Renville County to Carl Harvor and Mulfry H. (Sundquist) Samuelson.  He grew up on the family farm south of Sacred Heart and attended country school at District 15 North.  At the age of 26, he was drafted into the United States Army where he honorably served his country.  After his discharge from the Army, Kenneth returned to the Sacred Heart area and began farming.  He was united in marriage to Ramona Mae Swanson on August 24, 1963, at they made their home on their farm south of Sacred Heart.  Kenneth was a member of Opdal Lutheran Church, the Sacred Heart American Legion, and the Farmers Union.  He enjoyed wood working, welding, trapping, hunting, bowling, and his dogs and cats.  His family remembers him as a kind gentle man, who took pride in his work, having clean fields-no rocks or weeds, and straight rows.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
