Karen Rusten age 80, of Glencoe, Minnesota passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Madelia, on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10:30 am. Pastor Brad Kuebler will officiate.

Karen Mae Dorothy was born June 6, 1942 in Truman, MN to Gordon and Dorothy (Clarke) Dorothy. She grew up in rural Madelia and graduated from Madelia high school In 1960. Karen was united in marriage to John Rusten on July 28, 1961. He preceded her in death in 2013. After marriage, Karen held a variety of roles in several communities in which they lived, mainly Waconia, Comfrey, Waseca, and lastly, in Glencoe. But, her favorite roles were wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with family and gathering with friends over coffee. Karen was an excellent quilter and gifted piano player. She had a giving spirit and was always generous with her efforts. Karen spent her free time volunteering, traveling, reading and solving word puzzles. She was a life long member of the Church of Christ.

Karen leaves two sons, William Rusten of New Ulm and Robert Rusten of Glencoe; three grandchildren, Tiffany Rusten of New Ulm, Rachel Rusten of Manhattan, Kansas, and Jakob Rusten of Glencoe; sisters, Denise (Brad) Kuebler of St. James, Kathleen (Bob) Row of Bedford, Indiana; three nephews; two nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
