Joyce O’Halloran, age 75 of Olivia, MN passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday August 10th at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Father Joe Steinbeisser and Father George Schmit as concelebrants. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, August 9th, from 4-6 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church for one hour prior to the service. For memorials, please consider Renville County Hospice, the Woodbury Chorus and Orchestra, or an organization of your choosing in memory of Joyce.

O holy night the stars are brightly shining…..Joyce Ann O’Halloran was born on November 29, 1944 to Fred and Ruth (Lunney) Jacobsen in Fargo, ND. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Devils Lake, ND in 1962. She then attended the College of St. Catherine. Joyce was united in marriage to Gregory O’Halloran on August 22, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devils Lake. Joyce shared her musical talent with many people. She was a music teacher for six years at St. Aloysius and nine years at St. Mary’s, as well as a choir director. For several years, Joyce was a church accompanist playing both the piano and organ. Joyce was also a member of the Woodbury Chorus and Orchestra for 25 years. She worked at Page Snyder Drug for 14 years and was Chaplain for the American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she loved reading, sewing, and quilting. Joyce will be remembered for her God-given gift of her beautiful voice.

Joyce is survived by her children: Jolain (Mark) Anderson of Grand Forks, ND, Laura O’Halloran Helmer of Chanhassen, Michael (Julie) O’Halloran of Olivia, Paul (Sue) O’Halloran of Olivia, Sally (Cory) Nordmeyer of Chanhassen, and Thomas O’Halloran of Olivia; her grandchildren: Kristen Anderson, Bradley Anderson, Alison Helmer, Gregory Helmer, Brent O’Halloran, Cody O’Halloran, Devyn O’Halloran, Josh(Liz) O’Halloran, Will O’Halloran, Joey O’Halloran, Jacob O’Halloran, Spencer Nordmeyer, Annabelle Nordmeyer, and Lucy Nordmeyer; her great-grandchildren: Hadlea, Averi, Jaxon, and Willow O’Halloran; and her half-siblings: Betty Lee McCormick, Mary Welch, and George Welch. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth; husband, Gregory; son, Stephen; sister, Jeanne King; father-in-law, Moran and mother-in-law, Leona O’Halloran; and sister-in-law, Gloria O’Halloran.
