Joy Marilyn Fischer

Joy Marilyn Fischer, 88, of Renville, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Olivia Hospital.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church north of Renville.  The Rev. Anna Williamson will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.  Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Joy Marilyn Fischer was born April 3, 1935, to Frank & Dorothy (Peterson) Toupal in Crooks Township. Joy attended Country School, District 33 and later graduated from Renville High School.   Joy was baptized and confirmed member of First Lutheran Church in Renville. Joy played piano by ear and in her younger years she accompanied her dad, who played the violin, and also sang along with her sisters.  On November 30th, 1956, Joy was united in Marriage to George Fischer.  Joy became a member of Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, pulpit committee, Christian Care, and mission outreach along with many other committees. Their marriage of 67 years was a testament of love, support, loyalty, hard work, laughter, faith and commitment.  Joy worked at Rosaasen Nursing Home for 10 years, Control Data in Redwood Falls for 6 1/2 years and Warner Manufacturing for 23 years. She retired in 1998. Joy was a hard worker, focused on her job and loyal employee.  Joy had a servant heart, volunteering at the Renvilla, meals on wheels along with several church committees. She was the most selfless person you could meet. Whether it was someone in need, one of her grandchildren/great grandchildren, she included everyone and attempted to have that special meal, treat, or a follow up from a previous conversation. Joy had a feisty, playful spirit, positive outlook, was hard working and forever faithful to our Lord and Savior.

Joy is survived by her husband George and their four children: Dawn & Steve Eischens, Frank & Wendy Fischer, Bill & Tammy Fischer and Mary & Scott Johnson, 12 grandchildren 2 grand daughters and 10 grandsons, 22 great grandchildren, her sisters Genevieve Agre and Fran Bruns, and many nieces and nephews. Joy was preceded in death by her parents.
