John G. Aalderks, age 92, 0f Renville, died Friday, October 30, 2020, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Renville.  The service will be livestreamed via Facebook on Ebenezer Presbyterian Church’s Facebook page.  The service will also be broadcast on a FM radio transmitter that can be reached in the church parking lot, so you can join from your car at the church.  The Rev. Anna Williamson will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.  Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

John G. Aalderks was born on June 26, 1928, on the family farm in Crooks Township to George and Anna “Etta” (Fischer) Aalderks.  He grew up on the family farm and attended High School in Renville, graduating in 1946.  John served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was united in marriage to Marlous Engel on February 4, 1951, in Renville.  They made their home on the farm north of Renville and together they farmed and raised their two daughters.  As well as farming, John also worked as an accessor in Crooks Township for over 50 years.  His wife Marlous passed away on June 15, 1996. John later married Dorothy Marcus on November 1, 1997, and they spent the next 23 years together, Dorothy died on September 21st of this year.  John was a school board member and PTA President at Renville Public School, and also served on the Renville Ambulance Board.  He was an active member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, serving as Sunday school teacher and a church elder.  He loved sports of all kinds, especially the Minnesota Twins, Viking, Timberwolves, and Gophers.  John also enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Bart’s Café.

He is survived by his daughters and their spouses: Kris (and Kim) Henspeter of Marshall, and Gail (and Michael Rutter) Aalderks of Sauk Rapids; his 7 grandchildren: Justin (and Jen) Henspeter, Travis (and Morgan) Henspeter, Trenton (and Jeanette) Henspeter, Evan (and Kit) Henspeter, Erika Rutter, Ian Rutter, and Christina (and Jeremy) Pearson; 8 great grandchildren, his stepchildren: Duane (and Lynn) Marcus of Litchfield, Bob (and Jill) Marcus of Renville, Jim (and Nelida) Marcus of Renville, Loren (and Rhonda) Marcus of Renville, Verla (and Randy) Zieske of Renville, and Todd (and Brenda) Marcus of Prinsburg; 15 step grandchildren and 30 step great grandchildren; his sister Gladys (and Henry) Arends of Clara City; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives Marlous and Dorothy, and his brother Henry.
