John Booth IV

John Booth IV, age 4, of Renville, MN died on January 21, 2021, at the Minnesota Health Fairview University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. A private family service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Renville. A live stream of the service will be available on the church Facebook page. John Michael Booth IV was born on March 21, 2016 to John III and Lacey (Dworshak) Booth at the Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. John was born a warrior with two congenital heart defects. At seven days old John had his first open heart surgery and then again when he was seven months old. Instead of being able to have his third open heart surgery, he was put on the heart transplant list. On July 12, 2020, after 136 days on the list, he was given his new heart. John was a fun-loving kid that was full of life. His all-time favorite character was Spiderman; he was seen frequently wearing Spiderman clothes and costumes. He loved all music and was so happy while he was singing and dancing. His favorite song currently was Sunflower by Post Malone. John was a whiz when it came to technology, he liked playing the Wii U and on his tablet. His sisters were a huge part of his life. His older sister Kaylie was a little mom to him from the start and eventually the peace keeper between him and his younger sister, Kyra, when they would fight. When he was at home he enjoyed playing in the sand box with his sisters and when he was at the hospital he played Nerf guns with his nurses. John’s best friend was his stuffed squirrel, “Ferl” who went everywhere with him; his ratted fur definitely showed the years of love between them. He will be remembered for being a fighter and making his own decisions. John’s family would like to thank all of the staff, nurses, and doctors at his home away from home, the Masonic Children’s Hospital, for being there for John since day one. John and his family became well known to all at the hospital and everyone they came in contact with had such a positive impact on the time that they spent there.

John is survived by his parents, John III and Lacey; his two sisters, Kaylie and Kyra; his maternal grandparents, Mary Raske and Rick Dworshak; his paternal grandparents, Tonya Booth and John Booth Jr.; his maternal great-grandparents, Beverly Raske and Stan & Margaret Dworshak; his paternal great-grandpa, John (and Donna J.) Booth Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his great-grandpa Bruce Raske, great Nana Sandra Rivers, and great-great Bama Eleanor Rivers.
