John Baumstark, age 105, of Morton, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Calvary Cemetery in Morton, Minnesota.

John Baumstark, the son of Stephan and Madleina (Meissner), was born January 19, 1917 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. He graduated from high school in 1935. John had lived in North Dakota until 1942, when he had moved to Washington, DC. He was drafted into the Army, as a code instructor in WWII. He served at Palm Beach and Waikiki Beach. He later moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he worked for the FAA as an air traffic controller. After retiring, he moved to Morton. John was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. He was an avid biker, reader, and gardener. John enjoyed staying active and exercising.

John is survived by his three nieces; Carol Lentsch of St. Paul, Bonnie Kaiser of Albuquerque, NM, and Alice Baumstark-Ranger of Phoenix, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers, and one sister.
