Jerry Buchtel
Jerry Buchtel, age 74, died peacefully in his home in Willmar, MN on Wednesday, June 3rd. He was surrounded by his loved ones. A private family funeral will be held at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia with father Joe Steinbeisser officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Jerome J. Buchtel was born August 16th, 1945 to John and Irene (Knisley) Buchtel in Olivia, MN. In 1968 he was united in marriage to Quin Ripley. As a young man, Jerry was a farmer, later becoming a car dealer. In retirement, he enjoyed spending his summers helping his son at the Sheep Shedde Motel and his winters in Texas. Jerry was known for his charismatic personality and sense of humor, delighting in being the life of the party. He enjoyed golfing, grilling, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of The Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer, MN.
He is survived by his wife Quin (Ripley) Buchtel, his son; Corey and Traci Buchtel, their children Taylor (Cody Hatch), Max, and Katie; his son Cole Buchtel and daughter Jordyn; his daughter Mindy Buchtel; his daughter Ahmi and Nick Alvarez, their children Tyler and Rhett; great-granddaughter, Sophia Hatch; and his sister Jan Thortsen. Preceded in death by parents John and Irene Buchtel, and his sister Margaret Braun.
