Janice Steffen

Janice Steffen age 75, of Sanborn, MN died on July 11, 2023, at Assumption Home in Cold Spring, MN.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, MN. Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Pastor Ethan Boese. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Sanborn.

Janice Marie Weber was born on November 16, 1947, to Edwin and Edna Weber. She became a child of God through baptism and was later confirmed in her faith on March 26th, 1961, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, MN. She attended and later graduated from Sanborn High School. She then attended Dr. Martin Luther College for 3 years. She received a one year emergency call to teach at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville, Michigan. Jan then married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Steffen, on October 4, 1969. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Jan could also be found out in her flower garden. She will always be remembered for her red pickles and “world famous” sauerkraut hotdish. Jan was a loving mother and grandmother. She was very active at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn throughout the years as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher.

She is survived by her children – Suzanne (Scott) Madison, Heather (Christopher) Kallies, Paul Steffen, Mandy Riddell (special friend, Jacobe Lemke), Sara Dehn, and Anthony (Lauren) Steffen; grandchildren – Christopher, Hunter (special friend, Karlie Hennen), and Carter Madison, Joshua (special friend, Anna Kreutz) and Rachel Kallies, Kaydence Dehn, Connor and Jack Steffen, and Bentley Muehlenhardt; brothers – Jim, Howard, Pastor Jeffrey (Karen) and Richard Weber; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary (Geraldine) Steffen, Elaine Steffen; and many nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Loretta Steffen; brothers-in-law, Stuart Steffen, Robert Rausch; and a sister-in-law, Becky Weber.
