Janice Jeanette Koterba was born March 1, 1932 to August and Ruby (Bratsch) Breitkreutz on the family farm in Troy Township, rural Danube.  She grew up on a farm south of Renville. She was baptized and confirmed in Emmet County Church and went to school in Danube. Jan was united in marriage to Edward Koterba on February 18, 1950. They had twin girls, Sandy and Sharon, and one boy, Steven. They lived on a farm south of Olivia where Ed farmed. Janice worked at various businesses in Olivia including the Connan Canning Factory, Trojan Seeds, Corner Drug Store, and 212 Motel. Jan enjoyed baking, gardening, and canning. She and Ed took great care of their yard; Jan’s job was to keep the lawn mowed, which she really liked doing. Jan loved flowers, selling sweet corn in the summer, and being on the lake fishing. Her favorite memories were made with her family and friends. Jan and Ed loved Christmas time. They spent many hours gathering and making decorations and hanging numerous lights to decorate their farm every year for the holidays; how fitting that she was called home by her Savior just in time to spend Christmas in Heaven.

Jan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (and Tom) Langhoff of Winthrop; her grandchildren: Kari Moudry, Kayley Gilmore, Shari Lee, and Angie Lauderbaugh; her great-grandchildren: Dustin Hauser, Michaela Moudry, Thomas Gilmore, Auna Sigdahl, Abby Lauderbaugh, Miah Lee, Grace Lauderbaugh, and Bo Lauderbaugh; her great-great grandchildren: Etta, Emden, and Baby Sigdahl on the way; her sister-in-law, Ardene Breitkreutz of Wells; and many nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, August and Ruby; her husband, Ed; her son, Steven Koterba; her daughter, Sharon Grafenstein; her sisters, Marjorie Allen and Shirley Salzemann; and brother, Virgil Breitkreutz.

Blessed Be Her Memory
