Janet Mae Gniffke age 80 passed away on January 15, 2022 at the Granite Falls Care Center, surrounded by the caring staff who have been with her all twenty years she was a resident.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 21 at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood with Pastor Janel Kuester officiating. Visitation will be one hour before.  Interment is in Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Janet was born October 7, 1941 to Mildred (Chelin) & Grover Gniffke.  She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1959. After graduation, she worked as a dietary aide at the Cottonwood School as well as assisting her mother with her seamstress business for many years. Janet was very skilled at making rugs on her loom. She was baptized, confirmed and was a life long member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood.

After her parents passed away, Janet lived for five years at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Cottonwood.  She then moved to the Granite Falls Care Center where she was spoiled by the staff for the next twenty years.  Janet enjoyed cooking, crafts, gardening, music, puzzles, and white cake with ice cream. She was well loved and taken care of by the staff and enjoyed the company of the care center’s cats over the years.

Janet is survived by her sister-in-law Laura Lee Larson, nephew Jeremy Gniffke and his children, cousins Paul & Liz Lanning and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Mildred & Grover and her brother Roger in 2020. Those who knew her, were blessed by her.
