Janell M. Lieske, age 93, of Franklin, passed away on February 1, 2021, at Carris Health – Redwood Hospital in Redwood Falls. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin. There will be a celebration of Janell’s life in the spring followed by burial at the Franklin City Cemetery, rural Franklin.  Public Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, at the church. In lieu of flowers, Donations to the Franklin Cemetery or the Renville County Historical Society are appreciated.

Janell Maxine Lieske was born to Robert and Nettie (Schumacher) White in Birch Coulee Township in Renville County on March 26, 1927. When she was 9 years old her family moved 2 miles from Bernadotte and she graduated from Winthrop High School. After high school she moved to Franklin. She married Francis Lieske in Bernadotte on November 17, 1946. Together they farmed and raised 3 children.

Janell was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church serving on the Church Council. She was also the sexton of the Franklin City Cemetery for many years.

Janell enjoyed playing bridge, dancing and snowmobiling. She was very active in the Catfish Days activities in Franklin.

Janell is survived by her children-Earl (Doris) Lieske of Mission, Texas, Roberta (Joe Olson) Joehnck of Balaton, and Daughter in law Cathy (Darrel) Graff of Lamberton. Grandchildren- Sue & Matt Blumhoefer, Marcie & Ashton Anderson, Maxine & Tony Uhlir, Jon Joehnck, Tim & Katie Joehnck. Great Grandchildren-Dalton & Logan Blumhoefer, Katie & Alex Uhlir, Rylie & Breckyn Joehnck.

Janell was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, their Son, Charles, Grandson, Dennis, son-in-law Mike, along with 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
