James, known as Jim, was born to Albert and Eleanor Hotovec on December 28, 1947 in Olivia, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm in Danube, MN with his five siblings and raised his children in Olivia, MN. Jim always had a great sense of humor. He was a definitive master of dad jokes! Apart from being extremely funny, he is best known for being strong, patient, kind, loving, and faith-filled. Jim was always ready to help his children and grandchildren with anything they needed and he especially loved to feed them! He really enjoyed his food, often planning dinner while eating lunch. He was an amazing cook taking joy in sharing his meals with family and friends. He had an affinity for automobiles and remembered events by which car he was driving. Above all else, his greatest joy in life was simply spending time with his wife, Sharon. Together they enjoyed activities such as biking, gardening, pickleball, and spending winters in Arizona.

Jim is survived by his wife Sharon, with whom he recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. He is also survived by his three children: Michael Hotovec, Melissa (Hotovec) Marrujo (Jose) and Monica (Hotovec) Mages (Ed); his six grandchildren: William, Michael Andrew, Anthony, McKenna, Brennen, and Luke and his four siblings: Gary Hotovec, Pat Slagter, Dale Hotovec, and Nancy Gorres. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel Hotovec and his parents Albert and Eleanor Hotovec.

Blessed Be His Memory
