A public walkthrough visitation for Ivan Taylor, 75, of New Ulm, will be 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Echo Community Center. Interment will follow the service at the Echo Cemetery. Mask and social distancing requirements will be observed at all indoor services.

Ivan “Doc” LeRoy Taylor was born on July 18, 1945, on the home farm in Echo Township to Earl and Christina (Larson) Taylor. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Echo. After graduating from Echo High School, he worked at the Pure Oil gas station in Echo. He later began working for Great Plains Building Supply, and he worked in lumber yards his entire career. On April 25, 1980, Ivan was united in marriage to Kim Sykes in Marshall. The couple first lived in Vesta, but moved all over the United States with Ivan’s job before settling in Fairfax. In his free time, Ivan was happiest when working on various woodworking projects in the garage. He also enjoyed fishing for bullheads in his younger years.

Ivan died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 8, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kim of New Ulm; children Erika (Matt) Smith of Hutchinson, Tracey (Steve) Besser of Litchfield, Michele (Vaughn) Nordhausen of St. James, Wade Taylor of Prior Lake, Heidi (Jeff) Irlbeck of Wanda, and Dawn Eichten of Glencoe; grandchildren Hayden, Howie, Hudson, and Hattie Smith, Taylor and Alexi Besser, Chelsea and Kalli Nordhausen, Veda Taylor, Mitch, Leah, and Tyson Irlbeck, Treay and Easton Taylor, Alton (Deanna) Eichten, Gregory Brown, and Stephanie (Chris) Johnson; great-grandchildren Emma, Abby, Holly, and Dane Eichten, and Kimber and Micah Johnson; siblings Al (Mary) Taylor of Tyler and Darlene (Don) Olson of Andover; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Luke Taylor, and siblings Marian, Kenneth, Gene, Richard, Robert, Diane, and Jim.
