Harold Jeseritz

The funeral service for Harold Jeseritz, 95, of Hutchinson, formerly of Wood Lake, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Harold Carl Jeseritz was born on November 29, 1926, in Wood Lake, Minnesota, the son of August and Mathilda (Munsch) Jeseritz.  He passed away on October 17, 2022, at the age of 95.  On December 9, 1926, he was brought to baptism at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake.  He renewed his baptismal covenant with God by the rite of confirmation on May 14, 1939, also at St. John’s, where he remained a lifelong member.  On September 12, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lila Mock at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo.  The union was blessed with four sons, Gary, Gene, Gale and Greg.

Harold served his country during WWII in Japan as a staff sergeant.  After his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged.  He farmed in the Wood Lake area all his life.  He was a faithful member of St. John’s serving as trustee, elder, school board member, cemetery board and the centennial steering committee.

He was active in the American Legion in Wood Lake holding many offices and also on the county level holding various offices.  He also served on the county A.S.C.S. board and was president of the Farmer’s Union Action group for many years.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Lila, of 74 years, his four sons, Gary (Sherry) of Algona, IA, Gene (Dorothy) of Hutchinson, MN, Gale (Brenda) of Omaha, NE and Greg (Karyn) of Cottage Grove, MN.  Ten grandchildren: Jeremy (Jessica) Jeseritz, Kelly Danilson, Shad (Heidi) Jeseritz, Andrea (Preston) Pearson, Paul (Deidra) Jeseritz, Jessica (Damon) Day, Brett (Becky) Jeseritz, Bart (Anna) Jeseritz, Parker Jeseritz and Megan Jeseritz and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, August, Jr., Harland, Elmer, Raymond and sisters Lillian Drager and Luella Koenen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Disabled American Veterans or the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery fund.
