Harlan Hilman Fenger was born on March 28th, 1950, to Hilman and Eldonna (Bloedow) Fenger in Springfield, MN. Harlan was born and raised on the family farm and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church Willow Lake. Harlan attended Wanda Public School in Wanda, MN through the eighth grade and graduated from Wabasso High School in the class of 1968. In school, Harlan was active in football and basketball while still working on the family farm. While attending Wabasso High School, Harlan met Mary Wille where they attended senior prom together and married January 26, 1969, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Right after their marriage, Harlan and Mary resided in Springfield where Harlan worked for Vigorena Feeds as a feed mill operator. They moved out to the farm west of Wanda in Waterbury Township in August 1974 where they raised five children. Harlan continued to work for Vigorena and farmed with his father. Harlan raised hogs, cattle, cats, dogs, and the occasional chicken all while farming the land. Harlan worked various jobs throughout his life until his health declined causing him to retire much earlier than he wanted too. Harlan had a hard life and faced many challenges, but never strayed away from being a good father and grandfather to his family. Harlan was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church where he served as an usher, lay reader, and filled-in wherever was needed. When younger Harlan enjoyed deer hunting up north with his father, brother, and numerous friends and making several trips to the lake near Alexandria to go fishing. Harlan had a good sense of humor and always had a sarcastic comment or joke to tell anyone.

Harlan is survived by his children, Alesia Fenger of Redwood Falls, MN, Tricia Fenger of Owatonna, MN, Rindy (Robert) Filzen of Lucan, MN, Joel (Kathy) Fenger of Alexandria, MN, and Chasten (Amy) Fenger of Winnebago, MN; grandchildren Emma, Caden and Cora Filzen, Kylie, Karsen, and Keegan Fenger, Audrey Fenger, and Connor and Levi Kubista; sister-in-law Sherry Fenger of Springfield, MN, and sisters and brothers in-law, Lois and Galen Wetter of Lamberton, MN, Mavis Mathews of Maple Grove, MN, Karen Hacker of Morgan, MN, Arlan and Mary Wille of Buffalo, MN, and Layton and Susan Wille of Smithville, MO, as well as brothers-in-law Thomas Lange of Idaho Falls, ID and Merlin Willand of Dawson, MN, along with several nephews and nieces.
