Gayle Lecy

The funeral service for Gayle Lecy, 90, of Echo, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on
Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Rock Dell Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation
will be Monday, December 2, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home
in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00
a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Rock Dell
Cemetery.
Gayle Norman Lecy was born on December 17, 1933, at home on the family farm
in rural Echo to Norman and Christi (Anderson) Lecy. He was baptized and
confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church. Gayle attended country school and
graduated from West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN, in 1951. After
his schooling, Gayle returned to help his father on the family farm. On October
27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Norma Pederson at Rock Dell Evangelical
Lutheran Church. The couple farmed and raised their family on Gayle’s family
farm. In his early years, they raised cattle and hogs. Gayle was passionate about
farming and enjoyed riding his John Deere Gator while checking his crops. He also
enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time spent at Lake Amelia. Gayle looked forward to
time spent with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Gayle died on Wednesday, November 27, at the Avera Granite Falls Care Center in
Granite Falls, MN. He is survived by his children Greg Lecy (Becky) of Estero, FL, Doug
Lecy (Dawn) of Echo, Steve Lecy (Marsha) of Echo and Julie Anderson (Jeff) of Cass Lake;
grandchildren Ross Lecy, Andrew Lecy, Abigail Lecy, Kirsten Jurgenson, Cory Iskierka
(Shannon Roth, girlfriend), Adam Iskierka (Savanna), Megan Fratzke (Garrett), Molly
Sparks (Seth), Dillon Lecy (Alyssa), Anna Risa (Steve), Kyle Lecy (Tiffany), Denver Lecy,
Tom Anderson (Jenessa), Tony Anderson (Emily), and Stacey Hamlin (Cole); great-
grandchildren Hadley, Lincoln, Kennedy Jurgenson; Haven Iskierka; Alexander and
Chance Fratzke; Carl, Callahan and Mia Sparks; Waylon Lecy; Maverick and Watson Risa;
Lauren, Keaton and Teagan Lecy; KarLee and Jackson Anderson; Andi Anderson; Milo
and Cass Hamlin; sister-in-law JoAnn Schauer (Lloyd) and many nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma Lecy,
daughter Kristi Lecy, granddaughter Chantelle Kurtz, three brothers, two sisters and
their spouses.
