Frank Lucio
Frank Lucio, age 84 of the Lower Sioux Community, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Redwood Falls. Private family services will be held, with burial taking place in Oregon near Frank’s wife and daughter. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Frank Charles Lucio was born September 13, 1938 in the family home near Morton, Minnesota, to Clifford Lucio, Sr. and Esther (Thomas) Lucio. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church on the Lower Sioux, and he attended school at Bishop Whipple Mission, also on the Lower Sioux. He then graduated from Morton High School. Following graduation, Frank enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany, serving as a combat engineer. After his military service, Frank lived in California where he met Betty Lou and they were soon married. For 30 years, they made their home in Oregon on the Warm Springs Reservation. Frank was a member of the Lower Sioux Dakota Elder Council, and he loved volunteering. He was instrumental in organizing the elder food stand at the Lower Sioux Pow Wow. Attending Pow Wows was a favorite past time of his. Frank was a master gardener and loved taking pictures and videos. Over the years, he captured and preserved many memories for his family. Frank loved electronics and often used the computer to organize his pictures, and make calendars and other photo keepsakes. He adored his family and was proud of his children and grandchildren. Frank loved listening to music, especially country, Polka, and Mexican music.
Frank is survived by several grandchildren; siblings: Mary Loomis of the Lower Sioux, Joe Lucio of the Lower Sioux, Victoria Lucio of Shakopee, and Ruth Pacheco of Bernalillo, NM; brother-in-law Gary Seidl; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Lou, and siblings: Leona Larson, Josie Seidl, Bernice Scheffler, Susie Rinderman, Diane Lucio, Clifford Jr, Johnny, and Albert Lucio, and 2 infant sisters.
