Florence Alma Stomberg

Florence Alma Stomberg, age 93, of Willmar, formerly of Renville, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Vista Prairie at Copperleaf in Willmar, MN.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Renville.  The Rev. Anna Williamson will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church in Renville.

Florence Alma Stomberg was born on August 3, 1929, in Willmar, Minnesota to Otto F. and Ida C. (Hasenbank) Fleuter.  She and her family lived on a farm north of Raymond and she attended District 75 country school in Woods Township in Chippewa County.  She later graduated from Raymond High School in 1947.  Following high school, Florence worked as a secretary at Raymond High School.  She was united in marriage to John Stomberg on March 3, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Raymond.  Florence and John lived on a farm north of Renville and raised their family there.  In 2005, they moved into Renville and lived at Meadow’s on Main.  Florence was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and served on the Ladies Aid.  She was also a member of the Double Dozen Homemakers.  She loved her gardens, both flower and vegetables, and enjoyed sharing the flowers she had grown with others.  She loved boating and fishing, she could out fish anyone.    Florence also enjoyed going to garage sales, and spending time with her family at the lake.

She is survived by her two daughters: Darlene (and John) Schrauth of Bloomington, and Diane (and Larry) Walter of New London; her six grandchildren: Anna Schrauth, and Nicholas, Emma, William, Isabelle, and Augustine Walter; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 2007, and her sister Thelma Kidrowski.
