Ellen Cay Varner, 61, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, April 10, 2022 at St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.

Ellen Cay (Vickerman) Varner was born June 1, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Gerald and Barbara (Gilb) Vickerman. Ellen attended Redwood Falls High School and graduated in 1978. After high school she attended college at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and received her degree in printing in 1980. Ellen married Hub Varner in 1981 and they were blessed with two children, Carrie and Jon. She worked many years in the printing industry for McGill Jensen in St. Paul and Visiongraphic in Minneapolis. Ellen moved back to Redwood Falls in 1996. In her free time, she enjoyed cross-stich, trips to the casino, going to IMAX theaters with her brother and visiting with just about anyone. Ellen loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching their games.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carrie Varner and Jon (Maree) Varner; grandchildren, Chasyti, Jonathon, Darren, Dakota and Kaylee; brother, Leo Vickerman; sister-in-law, Anastasia Vickerman; nieces and nephew, Janelle, Christopher and Elizabeth. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Barbara Vickerman and brothers, Brett and Mark Vickerman.
