Eleanor Viola Throngard
Eleanor Viola Throngard, age 102, of Sacred Heart, died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 20th at 1:30 p.m. at the Granite Falls Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Jim Wolfe will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Sacred Heart, Minnesota. Visitation for Eleanor will be one hour prior to the services at the church in Granite Falls. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.
Eleanor Viola Throngard was born on September 12, 1921, in Willmar, Minnesota to Otto and Hilda (Erickson) Lanning. At the age of 8, she and her family moved to a farm near Sacred Heart. She was united in marriage to Lyman Throngard on February 22, 1951, in Montevideo, Minnesota. In 1945, she began working at the Red Owl store in Sacred Heart. She worked there until 1984. She also worked at Thorsrud’s Café in Sacred Heart. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Historical Society and the Granite Falls Assembly of God Church. Eleanor moved to Meadow’s on Main in Renville and in June of 2003, she moved into the RenVilla and has lived there since.
She is survived by her two nephews: Howard Throngard, Jr. and Lowell Throngard; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyman, and her brother and sister-in-law Howard and Randy Throngard, and her nephew Robert Throngard.
