Elaine Rudenick

Elaine Rudenick, age 96, of Redwood Falls, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, with burial to follow in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery, Redwood Falls. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 21 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Elaine Dorothy Rudenick was born to George and Maria (Simon) Hammerschmidt in Willow Lake Township of Redwood County on February 4, 1925. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1943. After high school Elaine worked in St. Cloud, during the war, working on plane fuselages. Elaine married Norman Rudenick on July 16, 1945, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso, later settling in Redwood Falls. Together they raised their 8 children. Elaine was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. She ran a daycare from 1964 – 2007 keeping in contact with many of those children. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren after she closed her daycare. Elaine enjoyed reading, puzzles and playing bingo.

Elaine is survived by her children, Harland (Judy) Rudenick of Blaine, Delbert (Rebecca) Rudenick of Rosepine, Louisiana, Joane (Linus) Madsen of Redwood Falls, Kevin (Michele) Rudenick of Redwood Falls, Norma (Bernie) Balderston of Olivia, Susan (Tom) Smith of Bird Island and Joseph (Jennifer) Rudenick of Wabasso, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents George and Maria Hammerschmidt, husband, Norman, son, Carlo Rudenick, as an infant and 13 siblings.
