Eileen Schroeder of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, December 15th at Mayo Health Center in Mankato after a brief illness.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm and will continue on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye.

Service will be held at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Pastor Chris Cordes.

Interment will be at the Zion Eden Cemetery near Morgan, MN.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Eileen Mae (Mecklenburg) Schroeder was born in New Ulm on September 22, 1932 to Arthur and Ella (Meyer) Mecklenburg. She grew up with her parents and four older brothers on the family farm in Milford Township until she and her parents moved to New Ulm in her early teens. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1950 and began working in New Ulm. She continued to live with her parents in New Ulm until her marriage to Harill Schroeder on October 27, 1956. They lived in Sleepy Eye for two years until they moved to Harill’s home farm near Morgan in 1958. She raised their four children at the farm and meticulously kept track of family and farm finances. They moved to their home in Sleepy Eye in 1985. Eileen was loved beyond words by her husband, children, eleven grandchildren, and extended family, who each had a very special relationship with her. She had a strong sense of family, both current and historic, and researched and kept accurate family history details.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harill Schroeder of Sleepy Eye; her four children: Gary (Mary Jo) Schroeder of Sleepy Eye; Randy (Carol) Schroeder of Morgan; Tim (Etsuko) Schroeder of Mukilteo, Washington, and Sharon (Brian) Lendt of Watertown, South Dakota; Her eleven grandchildren: Dan (Kristen) Schroeder; Emily (Shawn) Krzmarzick, Rebecca (Chris) Hoerth, Kyle Schroeder, Katie (Cody) Nachreiner, Michael (Alannah) Lendt, Rachel (Tanner) Weiss, Angela Lendt, Grace Schroeder, Natalie Lendt, and Margaret Schroeder; Her three great-grandchildren Carson Krzmarzick, Addilyn Nachreiner, and Jacob Krzmarzick, and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Earl, Chester, Willard, and Wallace.
