DuWayne Stephan Haney Jr. was born on July 2, 1961 to DuWayne Sr. and Janet (Fox) Haney in Olivia, MN. Dewey graduated from Olivia High School in 1979. At the age of 12, he began working for the family business, Haney Construction, where he continued to work for 47 years until his passing. He was most often operating the bulldozer, excavator, or payloader. On August 3, 1979, Dewey was united in marriage to Janell Green; from this marriage they had two daughters, Kristina and Kozanna. While raising his children he taught them the importance of family. They attended many reunions and events together that created lasting memories. In 2004, he was married to Rhonda Tepfer. He loved playing cards, especially Cribbage and Buck Euchre. Dewey enjoyed watching all sports but Nascar was his favorite. He attended many races while his brother, Alan, raced throughout Minnesota. He also liked to play softball, while barefoot, when he was younger. He was well known for being generous with his time as he was always willing to help out someone in need. Dewey fought his cancer bravely with a positive attitude and didn’t allow the pain to stop him from living his life. He wasn’t afraid of dirt or the negative things that could happen so he lived every day with the motto, ‘a little dirt never hurt anyone.’ Dewey was a loving, caring, and thoughtful man with a contagious laugh that will never be forgotten.

Dewey is survived by his daughters, Kristina (and Jon) Hackmann of Shafer and Kozanna (and Jason) Hirschman of Lake Lillian; his 13 grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; his parents, DuWayne Sr. and Janet; his siblings: Cathy (and Jack) Einerson, Carol Tisdell, Bob (and Katie) Haney, Alan (and Stacie) Haney, and Jim (and Laurie) Haney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dewey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne and Lillian Haney and Andrew and Bertha Fox; cousin, Meaghan Haney; and many aunts and uncles.

Blessed Be His Memory
