Duane Lee Olson, age 70, of Renville, died on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home south of Renville.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Rock Valle Lutheran Church near Echo, MN.  The Rev. Dan Bowman will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville.  Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Duane Lee Olson was born on January 15, 1952, in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Thelmer “Babe” and Verna (Lecy) Olson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church.  He grew up in the rural Echo area and graduated from Echo High School in 1970.  He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for six years, being stationed on board the USS Bainbridge.  Following his discharge from the Navy, Duane began working as an electrical engineer, working on nuclear power plants all across the United States. He retired in 1995, and then owned and operated Dallas 1 in Clara City and later Dallas 2 in Granite Falls for several years.  He was a member of Rock Valle Lutheran Church his entire life.  Duane loved to garden, growing fruits and vegetables which he loved giving to family and friends.  He also loved to visit with his family and friends and will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his joking manner.  He was also a wheeler and dealer and loved attending auctions and trading tractors.

He is survived by his significant other Robin Feldman of Renville, his sister Linda (and O.E.) Lerud of Echo, his son and daughter: Wesley (and Sydney) Olson of Anchorage, AK, Tiffany Klienhans of Reno, NV; his two grandchildren, Drake and Aurora; his aunts and uncle: JuliaAnn (and Gunvold) Knutson, Evie Olson, and Shirley Lecy; his brother-in-law, Benny Brennecke; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings David (and Ardys) Olson and Janet Brennecke.
