Duane Arthur Erickson was born on January 17, 1951, in Springfield to Arthur and Delores (Osland) Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Highwater Lutheran Church. He attended Lamberton Public School and graduated in 1969. After graduation he went to Jackson Vo-Tech. He was active in the Army National Guard from October 1970 and honorably discharged in October 1976. On August 4, 1979, Duane married the love of his life, Joleen Senger in Clements. This union was blessed with three children-Amber, Lucas, and Amanda.

Duane enjoyed living on the farm, where he actively farmed for 11 years. Even though he wasn’t actively farming, he enjoyed helping others out in the field and hauling loads into town. His passion for farming sparked his love of collecting red toy tractors. When he retired from farming, he worked at Ochs Brick in Springfield for 25 years and French Ag Research. During the summer months, Duane and Joleen had many lawn mowing jobs. Duane had a great sense of humor and tried to get along with everyone. When he felt good, he enjoyed meeting with the guys in the morning for coffee and having their “board meeting,” as he called it. His six grandchildren were his greatest joy, and you could usually find him giving one or all of them a tractor or lawnmower ride. He was active at Highwater Church as a Sunday school teacher and served many positions on the church council and an active member of the Lamberton American Legion Post 41, where he recently stepped down as Commander after serving for 13 years.

Duane is survived by wife, Joleen; daughter, Amber (Jon) Bergemann of Lamberton, son, Lucas (Justtina) Erickson of Springfield; grandchildren, Willie Kerich (special friend Taylor Phinney), Braiden Davis, Harper, Asher and Alayna Erickson and Cameron Bergemann; sister, Alice LeClair; brother-in-law, Dean Senger (special friend Rosy Brau); and sister-in-law, Pat (Gary) Ellingson. He was preceded in death by daughter, Amanda Erickson; parents, Art and Delores; parents-in-law, Bill and Rose Senger; sister and brother-in-law, Larry and Becky Wadsworth; brother-in-law, Mark Senger; and niece, baby girl Ellingson.
