Dorothy Dehncke, 101 of Franklin, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Parkview Nursing Home, Belview, Minnesota. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin, Minnesota with burial at the Redwood Falls Cemetery in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 9 until 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Franklin.

Dorothy was born on September 11, 1919 to Charles and Mathilda (Hosek) Kostka in Roseland Township in Kandiyohi County. Dorothy grew up in the Blomkest area and attended school, finishing the 8th grade. On May 27th of 1939 she married Reynold Renstrom in Blomkest. They started their life in Blomkest and raised their son, Ran, until Reynold’s death in 1958.
Dorothy married Edgar Dehncke in South Dakota on January 25, 1960. Together they started their life in Morton, moving to Stewart to own and operate Stewart Meat Market. They also raised their children here. In 1976 the family moved back to Morton and Franklin areas. Dorothy work as a cook in the Franklin Nursing Home for 15 years at age 63. She also worked at various other jobs after she officially retired at the age of 75.
Dorothy was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, loved watching westerns, polka’s and old television shows. She was always ready to play cards. As her children were growing up, she enjoyed watching them participate in sporting events. She took pride in how she looked and always dressed very nice.
Dorothy is survived by her children-Randy (Anita) Renstrom of Alexandria, Darcee (Scott) Pederson of Belview, and Darris (Michelle) Dehncke of Franklin. She is also survived by a close niece, Laverne ‘Bernie’ Johnson. Dorothy is survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 more great grandchildren on the way and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings-Lillian Eastlund of Willmar, Edith Malmanger of Waite Park and LeRoy ‘Bud’ (Anni) Kostka of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mathilda Kostka; husband, Reynold Renstrom and husband, Edgar Dehncke; infant daughter, Colleen Dehncke; siblings-her twin brother, Harold Kostka, brothers Donald Kostka and Thomas Kostka; Sisters, Lottie Galagan and Gladys Johnson, along with brother in laws and sister in laws.
