He was a graduate of the Redwood Falls High School class of 1950 and of Gustavus Adolphus College where he majored in Business Administration. He worked much of his life in IT with banks in Minneapolis.
His military service included special financial training at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indiana, Fort Ord in California, as well as overseas service in Orleans, France.
Don will be remembered for his quiet manner, his love of animals and his dedication to the Church of Christ (now Cornerstone Christian Church) in Redwood Falls. He had an old hymn book which he enjoyed and would read aloud some of the words: “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder I’ll Be There”, “In My Heart There Rings a Melody”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “How Great Thou Art” and other “Old Songs” which the family used to sing together with his father on the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.R. Monson and Gladys Schjaastad, and his sister Marie Monson. He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Monson of Arroyo Grande, CA, a sister, Jean Aronson of Germantown, TN, and many nieces and nephews throughout the states.
Blessed be his memory.
