Diane Rita Wallert
Diane Rita Wallert, age 77, of Danube, died Sunday, May 10, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville.
Diane Rita Wallert was born on June 7, 1942, on the family farm south of Olivia, Minnesota to Elmer and Rita (Hopman) Grund. She and her family lived in the Olivia area for a few years and later moved to Danube in 1948. She was united in marriage to Charles Wallert on January 23, 1960, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville. Following their marriage, they lived in Olivia for two years, prior to moving to Danube where she and Charlie have resided since. Diane worked at the Danube Locker Plant, Blackbourn Industries in Olivia, and finally as a home health aide for Renville County. Diane loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with her family at their farm near Parkers Prairie. She was also an avid sports fan and loved CHEERING for her kids and grandkids. No one has ever worked harder to be the best daughter, wife, mother, or grandmother; she was extremely proud of her family. She was hard working, kind, compassionate and had a huge heart. She always went the extra mile bringing a helping hand, love, sunshine wherever she went.
Diane is survived by her husband Charles of Danube, her sons: Mark (and Nona) of LaPorte, Todd (and Debbie) of Lake Elmo, Paul (and Janet) of Olivia, and John (and Jill) of Belle Plain, her grandchildren: Josh (and Colleen), Laurel, Andrea, Emily, Sam, Andrew, Grace, Anthony, and Beau; her two great-grandchildren Verena and Ellowen; her brother Duane (and Mary) Grund of Willmar; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Rita Grund.
