Delores Dorothy Wittwer was born on June 30, 1925 to Joseph and Rose (Horejsi) Kodet on their farm south of Olivia. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Delores was united in marriage to Kenneth Wittwer on January 27, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island and they were blessed with four children. Her organization and people skills served her well when she worked as a bookkeeper for Wittwer Service Station for 40 years, bank teller at the State Bank in Bird Island for 15 years, Renville County Hospital, and sold Avon for over 30 years. Delores believed in giving back to her church, school, and community and did so by serving on numerous boards, and committees. She was a St. Mary’s School Board member, worked with the girls scouts, and was a chartered member of the Bird Island Lioness. Delores served on the bridge marathon committee, as she was an avid player herself, and the all-school reunion committee for four reunions. She also held the position of treasurer of the “Fair for All” food committee while they were in Bird Island. St. Mary’s Catholic Church was very important to her. She co-chaired the first printing of St. Mary’s cookbook in 1961 and worked many years for the annual dinners, funerals, and other events held at the church.

Delores is survived by her children: Judy (Steve) Dirks, Jon (Tina) Wittwer, and Steve (Susan) Wittwer; her granddaughter, Brooke Wittwer; her grandson, Ryan (Jannah) Wittwer; and her great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Kaelyn, and Will Wittwer; her son-in-law, Dean Boyum; her siblings: Florene Lovrien, Roger Kodet, and Doug Kodet. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wittwer and daughter, Susan Boyum.

Blessed Be Her Memory
