Delores L. Menk, age 83, of rural Sleepy Eye, MN died on May 5, 2021, at her home.

Funeral Service will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel, on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 1:00 pm.

Visitation will be held from 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

COVID-19 rules and regulations will be followed including social distancing and use of masks.

The clergy will be Pastor Chris Cordes.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Delores Lillie (Reddemann) Menk was born December 24, 1937 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Edwin and Lillie (Trebesch) Reddemann. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She attended grade school at Brown County School District #44 and graduated with honors from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1955. After graduation Delores was employed at State Bank of Sleepy Eye.

On October 10, 1958, Delores was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Menk of Morgan, MN at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. They resided in Sleepy Eye where they were members of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Delores continued to work at the bank for several years until they were blessed with two children, Marla and David, when she became a full-time homemaker. Chuck and Delores shared 62 years of marriage.

The two met at a dance at the Orchid Ballroom in Sleepy Eye and continued to enjoy listening and dancing to old-time music throughout their lives.

Together, Chuck and Delores enjoyed traveling with their children on family vacations, and later in life their travels took them to Alaska, Hawaii, Germany, Austria, Mexico, and almost-annually to Branson, Missouri. Other interests included quilting and painting her husband’s wood carvings. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and was a member of the Sleepy Eye Qui Vive Women’s Club.

Delores is survived by her son David of Minneapolis, MN, grandchildren Jonathan Bender (Rebecca) of California, Sarah Bender-Burbidge (Preston) of Maryland, and Hannah Bender-Blizzard (Jarrett) of Virginia, great-granddaughter Aurora Bender of California, brother Leonard Reddemann of Springfield, MN, brother-in-law Lloyd (LaVonne) Menk of Mankato, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Menk on October 14, 2020, daughter Marla Bender on April 22, 2004, parents, parents-in-law, sister-in-law Marjorie Reddemann, brother-in-law Dale Menk and wife Dorothy, and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Warhol and husband Frank.
