Darlene A. Haug
Darlene A. Haug, age 89, of Danube, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Renville. The Rev. Trevor Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the services at the church in Renville. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.

Darlene A (Lange) Haug was born in Jamestown, ND on January 16, 1933, to Walter and Erna (Buetow) Lange. The family lived on a farm near Eldridge, ND until 1936. Drought, grasshoppers, and very bad economic times led them to move to a farm northeast of Wanda, MN to be near family. Darlene attended country school starting when she was 5 years old. During her 8th grade year, her parents purchased and moved to a farm west of Wanda. She was baptized in Jamestown and confirmed in her faith at St. Matthews Lutheran Church near Wabasso, MN. Darlene attended Lamberton High School, graduating in 1950. Her first job was working for Northwestern Bell in Redwood Falls as a telephone operator.
Darlene met the love of her life, Homer Haug, at the roller-skating rink. She and her friends frequented the roller rink on rainy nights because they knew the farmers would be there. On April 3, 1952, Homer and Darlene were married and moved to the family farm near Danube. They were blessed with seven children. Homer and Darlene were constant supporters and encouragers of their children in whatever they were involved in. Darlene faithfully helped Homer run and manage the family dairy farm. Anyone who had the permission to see the farm records was amazed at her organization and detail. The family enjoyed the wonderful experiences of a family farm including vegetable gardening, butchering chickens, milking cows and playing lots of card games. They were actively involved at First Lutheran Church in Renville, MN.
In 1984, they sold the dairy cows and moved to a home they built on the edge of Danube. Darlene then attended Granite Falls Vocational Technical College where she trained to be a Home Health Aid. She worked for Renville County Public Health until 1995. Homer and Darlene were blessed with the opportunity to travel to Taiwan, Alaska and Hawaii, and enjoyed winters in Arizona in their RV. Spending time with family and friends, playing cards, sewing and crafting and tending to her beautiful flower garden were passions in Darlene’s life. She enjoyed her later years at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Amid the pandemic, the staff cared well for her, and she deeply appreciated their love and kindness. Darlene’s love for Jesus overflowed in all she did and inspired her children to walk in faith as well.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, her parents and brothers: Darwin, Gerald, Gene and infant Edward, and great grand babies Elsie and Charlotte. She is survived by their seven children: Cindy (Dave) Eshelman of Minneapolis, Chery (Jeff) Johnson of New London, Jolene (Curt) Kreps of Sioux Falls, SD, Harley (Dawn) Haug of Danube, Tammy (Bill) Fischer of Delano, Debra (Matt) Lamb of Nevis, and Bradley (Jenni) Haug of Mankato, and grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren that she loved dearly.
