Clifford Norskog

Clifford Norskog, age 92, of Willmar and formerly of Bird Island died Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.  Private family services will be held. Burial is in Palmyra Lutheran Cemetery, rural Bird Island.  Memorials are preferred to Palmyra Lutheran Cemetery Association (75174 County Road 16, Hector, MN 55342). Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Clifford John Norskog was born June 25, 1928 at Palmyra Township to Oscar and Ronnaug (Suvdahl) Norskog.  He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Bird Island High school in 1946.  Clifford married Bernice Ruud on September 26, 1949 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bird Island. They made their home and farmed south of Bird Island retiring to Willmar in 1991 and living on Swan Lake. Clifford and Bernice spent many summers in their camper near Battle Lake.  Clifford was involved in his community by serving on the Palmyra Township Board, Bird Island Farmers Elevator, Bird Island Lake Lillian School Board and Our Saviors Lutheran Church Board.  In retirement years he enjoyed selling Schweiss Doors at farm shows around the area.  In the winter he could be found latch hooking rugs. Clifford will be remembered for his humor and love of his family.

Clifford is survived by his children: Dale Norskog of Bird Island and Julie (and Bill) Gass of Bird Island; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernice and his siblings: Claudine, Vivian and Dorothy.
